SPORTS EDUCATION

VOLUNTEER SPORTLIGHT

Nate Merz '19: "I've played soccer my whole life in the United States but after just playing with the local students from Sierra Leone for just 5 minutes, I felt like I had been playing with them and had known them for years. Kicking the ball around with them really showed me how soccer can bring people together."

In addition to our investment in education and special projects like wells, KidsGive recognizes the importance of empowering children through sports, supporting health bodies, and opportunities for team building and social skills. KidsGive team members create domestic partnerships with schools in the United States to run sports equipment drives before our volunteers travel to our Sierra Leonean partner schools to deliver the equipment and facilitate sports days. Our sports days are definitely a highlight of every trip our team makes to Sierra Leone and without a doubt a highlight of the Sierra Leonean students' few days with us as well!
