FAWE PRESCHOOL PROJECT

THE KIDSGIVE METHOD

If the KidsGive method can be visualized as a three-way system with collaboration from Lawrence University students, young students in the USA, and students in Sierra Leone, then our recently completed FAWE Preschool project is the perfect example of the strength of this method.

In the fall of 2016, KidsGive team members traveled to Prairie Creek Elementary School in Minnesota to give presentations about Sierra Leonean culture. The students were so receptive and excited that through the help of their teachers and parents, they spent the next two months collecting huge amounts of school supplies for our partner preschool at FAWE in Sierra Leone.

This December our KidsGive volunteers were able to not only hand deliver the supplies but also paint the classroom.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Abby Dennis '18: "The FAWE preschool project was really special because to me it exemplifies what KidsGive is all about. It was so exciting to watch eight and nine year olds from my own elementary school in Minnesota rally together to fundraise for preschoolers five thousand miles away from them in Sierra Leone. I know they both learned so much from each other in the process, from gaining new school supplies to learning about each other's culture to opening their hearts to others, and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it."
